Ecotripfestival: All children becoming sustainable global citizens

Presentation meeting, Wednesday afternoon 16-2-22

The EcoTrip festival will take place in Haarlem from February 13 to 20, 2022. More than 15 Haarlem organisations are participating with activities focussing on sustainability as both inspiration and as necessity. Stedenband Haarlem-Mutare is active in the development and implemention of education programmes on global citizenship for primary and secondary education.

Workshop and presentations

During the workshop All children becoming sustainable global citizens presentations will be made on the recently developed Serious Games #YouToo, which addresses cyberbullying in secondary school as a topic for discussion, and Citizenschool, which addresses prejudices about migration. The game concepts have been developed in competitive stages with students from Poland, Ireland, Portugal and Germany and with support from the EU’s Erasmus+ education programme. We are also preparing a game concept around Plastic Soup that may be developed into the next serious game for secondary education in Europe.

At the primary education level we present Een reis voorbij de Evenaar ( Journey beyond the Equator), a programme with eight themed-teaching kits, each containing extensive information on the lives of children in Africa and including a wealth of supporting teaching material. The presentation All Children to School will also be exhibited.

Stedenband Haarlem-Mutare develops its programmes by  translating the SDGs into concrete cases. The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) are 17 goals to make the world a better place by 2030. The SDGs have been agreed upon by the member countries of the United Nations (UN), including the Netherlands. The goals result from and are based on global input from organisations and individuals.

We look  forward to welcoming you on 16 February from 14.00 to 17.00 in  Debatcentrum De Pletterij, Lange Herenvest 122, Haarlem. The workshop will be held from 15.00  to 16.00.  Further  information on the complete EcoTrip programme can be found on the website: https://www.ecotripfestival.nl/.
