Kura Uone Foundation
Karin de Keizer has founded Kura Uone in 1998 with the inheritance of her mother. With the goal to support vocational training projects for women and children.
With the contacts of Wilma Moen and Nel Stigter, volunteer of the City Link Haarlem Mutare, she started to support projects in the surrounding of Mutare, Zimbabwe.
The groups supported
Tariro group
Tariro is a group that works at the multipurpose centre build by the Red Cross Haarlem en Omstreken at Sakubva Mutare. The group consists of 25 orphaned girls from Sakubva. They get training in sewing and making of cloths. Often these girls are also responsible for younger brothers and sisters. The group is supported with sewing machines and materials.
Penhalonga
The Hageveld College at Heemstede has a yearly Christmas Fundraising activity. They where looking for a good course. Penhalonga is an orphanage were 42 children stay who has lost their parents because of Aids and have no family that can take care of them. They are supported with clothing, toys and school materials.
Textile group Fern Valley
Fern Valley is a poor rural area close to Mutare. Kura Uone supports a group of women with vocational trainings, sewing machines and materials.
Zimunya
Jaros Jiri is an organisation that organises work places for the disabled all over Zimbabwe. Most of the product are sold in large shops at the large cities or exported. At Zimunya a group of women worked in a badly equipped workshop. The workshop was renovated. For the disabled facilities as wheelchairs, crutches were provided. There was also a solar cooker installed.
